Congratulations to Ellis 10th grader Madisen Daily. She was selected by the Women and Girls Foundation to take part in the 6th Annual GirlGov program this summer. GirlGov is a groundbreaking program created by teens for teens, through which young women from the greater Pittsburgh region gain first-hand experiences in government, community involvement, women’s history, and leadership.
Maddie and the rest of the 2015 GirlGov cohort will head to Washington, DC this June. They will shadow a state legislator and learn about current public policy issues impacting women’s and girls’ lives in our region. They will also learn about philanthropy and grantmaking and will award $10,000 to local girl-led projects.
GirlGov participants also explore nonprofit and government career options, discuss with decision makers the critical issues affecting women and girls, and meet with accomplished women working in and with government about how girls can become more involved in community civics.
If you're interested in exploring Ellis for your daughter, let's connect! Request information about enrollment, attend one of our upcoming events, or hear about Ellis from those who know it best: our students.
