Ellis junior represents Ellis at Girls Rock Science
Taylor Robinson ’17 represented The Ellis School at the Girls Rock Science℠ Weekend at Carnegie Science Center on Sunday, October 4. She was invited to participate in the event as a winner of the SciTech Science and Engineering Fair in March 2015 for her entry Cyber Psychology. Taylor, one of more than 1,000 entrants, won the Associate Scientist Perseverance Award and an Allegheny College Scholarship.
Girls Rock Science, a partnership between Carnegie Science Center and KDKA TV, is designed to get girls excited about science and technology and to acquaint them with a wide range of STEM careers. Throughout the building, STEM professionals from a wide range of organizations will staff tables of interactive demonstrations and hands-on activities. Women make up about 50% of the workforce in the United States but hold only 25% of STEM jobs. Carnegie Science Center is working to reverse this trend through a wide range of programs, including Girls Rock Science℠.
