Three Ellis women nominated for global impact award

Three women from The Ellis School were among 52 female leaders from our region who were nominated for the 2013 "Celebrating Women! Having a Global Impact" award.
Presented by the Women and Girls Foundation, the awards honor female leaders nominated by the community. This year's awards focus on local women who have a global impact or who introduce the region to global influences. The three nominees from Ellis are: 
 
Laila Al-Soulaiman '13:  A 2013 graduate of Ellis, Laila is a student activist bringing the conflict in Syria to the local level using art to highlight the urgency of the situation.

Randie Benedict: As Head of School at Ellis, Randie inspires the next generation of female leaders to make a difference int he world and prepares and empowers girls through an excellent education in an all-girls environment.
 
Serena Mani, Class of 2014: Ellis rising senior Serena Mani is the Outreach Leader on the Girls of Steel robotics team, and works to inspire girls to pursue careers in STEM fields through interactive projects, locally and across Africa. 
 
The nominations were announced at a celebration last week at Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens. The mission of the Women and Girls Foundation is to achieve equality for women and girls in Southwest Pennsylvania.
