The bitter cold reminds me of the important role that we, as adults, have in making the world beyond School as welcoming as possible for Ellis students. A key aspect of this "warm up" is introducing our girls to role models and mentors. Here are three ways Ellis is introducing our girls to inspiring women, each powerful in her own way.
We continue to place special focus on STEM fields where women are often underrepresented. Ellis, along with six other leading girls' schools, is creating the GAINS Scholar Network of role models and mentors who will help our girls discover their passions and talents in science, technology, engineering and math. Please take a moment to learn more here and consider joining as a GAINS Scholar Network mentor.
Looking toward February, Pittsburgh visual and spoken word artist Vanessa German will speak to our Upper School girls about art and community engagement. Her speech at Pittsburgh's mayoral inauguration captured our city's spirit of community, family, and service.
Programs like these support our curricula and our focus on innovation and hands-on experiences that deepen classroom learning.
Stay warm and well as we greet the month of February!
If you're interested in exploring Ellis for your daughter, let's connect! Request information about enrollment, attend one of our upcoming events, or hear about Ellis from those who know it best: our students.
