Ellis graduates are succeeding in college As important as acceptance to college is how well prepared a student is for success in college. We take great pride in our college process and work closely with every student to find the right college fit for her. Our recent graduates tell us that these strategies are working. In spring of 2013, we asked Ellis graduates still in college how well Ellis prepared them for college-level academic work, and how their leadership, project management, and study skills compared to those of their peers at college. Their responses regarding self-confidence and risk-taking were especially gratifying:
98% of alumnae indicated that they are extremely or well prepared for college-level English (a requirement at most colleges).
84% of alumnae felt they are better project leaders than their college peers.
83% told us they’re very satisfied with the college or university in which they are enrolled.
79% stated they are better able than their college peers to focus on subjects that are difficult for them, not just what comes easily.
84% of girls feel that their overall confidence level was due to their girls-only education at Ellis.
Open-ended responses included these verbatim comments “Many of my friends went to private high schools and no one had written a senior thesis, let alone one that would meet the expectations and standards at Ellis. The senior thesis might have been the most valuable assignment in my Ellis career.”
“Ellis made me a very good student. I am confident. I know how to study. I know to present myself and speak publicly, how to research, and I am well prepared...”
Colleges continue to notify students of their decisions daily, with the majority of acceptance news to come in spring. We celebrate the Class of 2015 at this point in the year for their early successes and for those still to come.
